Methamphetamine is so Highly Addictive because.

The euphoric periods can last between 2 to 24 hours depending on the delivery method and dosage. It is extremely psychologically addictive and has serious long-term consequences.

Methamphetamine is an illegal synthetic drug, which creates a strong feeling of power and euphoria in the mind of an addict. As these effects decline, because the brain chemistry begins to adapt to the chemical and the body metabolises the chemical, the user looses the original effects and a significant rebounding occurs. Methamphetamine has depleted the previously saturated synaptic cleft of the same neurotransmitters that once was elevated to its euphoric state. To maintain the euphoric state users use more of the drug more frequently. The result of this heavy use is that a person is awake for days leading to sleep deprivation. Symptoms of sleep deprivation are hallucinations, irritability, paranoia, blurred vision, memory lapses and, in rare cases, death.

There are different types and ways that dependent addicts use meth.

Crystal meth, glass, or ice is sold on the streets as a crystalline solid.

Speed or crank is sold as less of a pure substance in powered crystalline form.

Tweak, dope or raw is produced in a rock formation.

Snorting - Can cause tooth decay because the nasal passages are directly connected to the mouth area (crystals get attached to the teeth) and in rare cases, nose cartilage becomes deteriorated.

Smoking - Most impure way of ingesting meth (either smoked in glass pipes or in tin foil). Can affect teeth as well as the lungs by causing asthma.

Injecting - Most power method so users experience greater jaw clenching that can cause loose teeth. Syringe use of meth damages the skills by developing skin rashes and infection .

More about Crystal Meth.

Crystal methamphetamine usually looks like small pieces of glass or shinny blue-white rocks. Crystal meth has long-lasting euphoric effects because of its higher purity level. Higher intensity results in more harmful physiological effects than its powered counterpart does. Crystal meth is usually smoked or injected, which is a highly powerful way of using the drug so the high can last for 12 hours or more. Injecting the crystal meth exposes users to risk of HIV and hepatitis B and C.

Introducing Yaba .

Yaba is a Thai word for crazy medicine. Although produced in Southeast and East Asia the drug is becoming well known as the new club and rave party drug. This brightly reddish-orange or green tablet is a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine. Most swallow this pill, but others attempt to, chase the dragon, by melting the tablet by placing it on a piece of tin foil and heating in from below. As the tablet melts, users inhale the smoke. Yaba users also snort and inject tablets. Risks involved in using Yaba are the same as in other forms of methamphetamine use (e.g., anxiety, insomnia, convulsions, violent behaviour and possible death).

How Heritage Home uses the Matrix Model for People Suffering from Methamphetamie Dependence.

Matrix Model: (1) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

•  Social Support

•  Family Education Groups

•  Individual Counselling

•  Urine Testing

Treatment of methamphetamine dependence presents therapists with a multitude of challenges because of diverse effects, such as, mood disorders, violence, cognitive impairment and poor health conditions. Treatment is designed to deal with the behavioural aspects of addiction, develop social support, involve family members in the therapeutic process, provide specialized individual counselling, and, when appropriate, mandate urine testing procedures that can be implemented at the center, or as part of the post-treatment plan.

Pharmaceutical Assistance:

Currently there are no medications that are able to safely and quickly minimise withdrawal, cope with paranoia and psychotic symptoms or reverse the effects of overdoses associated with methamphetamine dependence.

Extra Information.

U.S. Department of Justice's National Drug Intelligence Center outlines products used in Methamphetamine Production:

Acetone Alcohol (isopropyl or rubbing)
Anhydrous ammonia (fertilizer) Ephedrine (cold medicine)

Ether (engine starter) Hydrochloric acid (pool supply)

Iodine (flakes or crystal) Kitty litter

Lithium (batteries) Methanol (gasoline additive)

MSM (nutritional supplement) Pseudoephedrine (cold medication)

Red phosphorus (matches or road flares) Salt (table or rock)

Sodium hydroxide (lye) Sodium metal

Sulfuric acid (drain cleaner) Toluene (brake cleaner)

Trichloroethane (gun cleaner)

National Drug Intelligence Center states that you should be concerned if methamphetamine laboratories are operating in your community because.

Second Hand Health Risks:

Ingestion of toxic chemical or methamphetamine can cause

(e.g., young children present at fatal poisoning, internal chemical burns, damage to organ

laboratory sites) function, and harm to neurological and immunologic functioning.

Environmental Risks:

1 pound of methamphetamine produced creates 5 to 7 (contamination to soil and pounds of toxic waste.

nearby water sources)
